Apprenticeship, an opportunity for organizations and young people

Entry levels under the spotlight of the October 15th Assolombarda event: themes, tools and materials

A link between training and work, that embodies the extra-gear for organizations and new generations. The first-level apprenticeship, main theme of the October 15th Assolombarda meeting "Growing the first-level apprenticeship: an opportunity for organizations and young people", gave the participants an interesting opportunity for exploring and analyzing the main legal issues, on the one hand, and the company experiences, on the other, as implemented in a territory, that of Milan, Monza and Brianza, Lodi, which often plays a pioneering role at national level in terms of identification, recognition and dissemination of best practices. In a professional context that is greatly affected by the mismatch between demand and supply, this tool can really make a difference, by revealing growth and development opportunities, in terms of job seekers and with respect to the employers.

Consolidated with the 2015 Jobs Act, this type of contract (which governs permanent contract) is aimed at young people between the ages of 15 and 25, aiming to consolidate a professional degree/qualification, a secondary education degree or, again, an IFTS (post-graduate) certification. Within it, an essential training role is played by the enterprise, in a teaching co-design perspective with the educational front, in order to provide the apprentice with an "in-field" burden, composed by technical-professional knowledge and practical skills. Many experiences have been collected in this regard by Assolombarda, which was thus able to offer not only ideas of overall vision on the instrument itself, and its governance processes, but also on the complex of opportunities and criticalities related to the use of the contract, and about its operational translation (from theory to "putting into practice"), as well as useful guidelines in terms of governance for the apprentice's figure, straddling the status of worker and that of trainee.

Not least, using the technical support offered by the law firm LabLaw, Assolombarda has integrated the debate by developing a series of datasheets dedicated to the study of those management assets addressed as most urgent. Between the duration and the termination of the professional relationship, timing and salary, child labour and extension or transformation of the contract, a genuine practical review was proposed for the study and implementation of what stands as one of the new entry tracks in the market to date more difficult to approach, that of the professions.
